I had a good friend who was French/Swiss. He was a certified Watchmaker. He graduated from the Rolex school in Geneva and he worked on all my watches including my Rolex.
I once asked him, if money was no object and you could have any watch in the world, what watch would you own.
RADO, he said.
Why? I said.
They have the best case and bracelet. It will never scratch and neither will the crystal. Their movement is as good if not better than the best you can name.
Why don’t you own one? I asked.
He whispered, they’re ugly.
We both laughed. It was the same reason why I didn’t wear one.
I was totally impressed with their engineering, the quality of the watch and its accuracy, but I hated the styling. I think that is the reason why they don’t sell more watches.
They are worth the money, but if looks and ruggedness are important, then I’ll take my Rolex.
Of course this is a matter of taste. If they look good to you, buy one. You can’t go wrong and they ARE worth the money.
