Easy Bootleg Coil Winder

if you’re like me you don’t want to make a whole project out of a winding jig, but still want one to save some time. i made this as quick as possible with random junk.. real simple to do. everyone has the stuff laying around to make one.. i think most of this stuff came from an old tape player. just find you a nice sized little DC motor, something to put on the shaft to support a coil, find another little device for a rotor to hold the source coil. come up with a simple way to support the wire, like the half assed pully system i have here, and then just put a 5v or so input to the dc motor and use your hand to guide the wire on properly. i use magnets whenever possible to fix or support stuff. this of course still requires some human effort during winding but it still saves me loads of time and i can wind a pretty good coil in a couple minutes. some people recommend special motors but i find the slower/stronger ones can possibly snap a thin gauge wire too easily during a hangup. using a small DC motor and proper input, you can somewhat control the speed by hand on the spot simply by the amount of tension you provide. the only downside is you dont want to put too much juice into the motor while loading it or it will heat up.
