How Do I Wind a Self Winding Watch?.?

i bought a watch with no instruction, its self winding but ive never wound a watch in my life. Do i wind it forwards or backwards? thanks
it might not be self winding. i actually think its a hand winding watch. sorry for the confusion.

    If it is a self-winding watch, you just wear it. The movement of your arm/hand will wind it automatically. If you just hold it & wave it around a bit, it should start. (assuming the hands were not moving when you got it) The winding pin is just there to correct the time.

    Hmmmm… Not sure if youre kidding around here or not… If it is self winding, you don’t need to do anything except wear it and move a little through the day.

    If it is manually winding, you need to wind it forwards, then backwards repeatedly until you feel a little resistance in the forward wind…..
