@steviesan23 Sure, don’t you keep extra jackets on your sleeve? No, I meant to say “buttons” there, of course, and thank you for catching that and pointing out the mistake!

the single button suit, do you use the button?

@DunkelStern Traditionally a one-button jacket would be buttoned whenever the wearer is standing up. People are a little more flexible about it these days, but that’s the basic expectation!

Hi, I’m about to get a tailored suit – well prepared with the knowledge gained through your excellent videos! You mentioned a tailor should be tipped (own shop, classy/wealthy one) . Is 10% appropriate, e.g. 800$ spend, 80$ tip ? Also, what should a tailored shirt cost?

@RickDangerous3 Tailors have pride – so don’t tip directly unless you’re buying in HK or Bangkok. Instead – buy extra shirts and don’t try to cut him on price. Shirts are where we make money – especially in a batch. It’s a win-win!

@RickDangerous3 Two good questions there – I might actually do a video on the etiquette of tipping your tailor (how much, how to do it graciously, etc.). But to answer quickly, 10-15% is a good, generous range, and 5% at least shows that you know to do it! As to how much a shirt should cost, can vary anywhere from around $100 to over $1000 depending on materials, specific requests, etc. The fabric selection will have the largest influence on the final cost.

@RealMenRealStyle thanks for your replies! Instead of tipping him i went and bought some other things that i needed from him as well (mtm shoes/shirts). I know the outfit matches and he’ll make more profit from me as a customer.

@RealMenRealStyle Antonio, I love your videos! Thank you so much. I was just wondering, in terms of fit, how do you tell if the suit fits in areas other than shoulders, torso and sleeve? I mean, what about arm holes (armpit?), neck and so forth?

Oi, I was wondering, is it possible to roll up the cuffs/sleeves of a odd jacket, like a sports jacket or blazer? Thanks

@buildingeverything I usually have my jackets made with working sleeve buttons so that I have this option. But it certainly looks odd — I don’t do it unless I’m actively doing something with my hands that I want to keep my sleeves away from!
