Sewing Machine Beginner- Motor Runs When Foot Pedal Pressed, but Nothing Happens?
Hi I am extremely new to sewing and I just got my first sewing machine (brand new brother ls-2125). I read the instructions carefully and was attempting to wind my first bobin when I realized that I have no clue what I am doing. I did everything as instructed but when I press the foot pedal, the engine runs but nothing happens. The needle does not move nor does the bobin wind. I feel like in the process of meeting and greeting my machine I must have flipped some switch or something that would explain this. I don’t think its broken because its new. On all the you tube instructional videos I watched, they all pushed the bobin winder to the right (did that), and then pulled out the balance wheel (mine does not pull out) before they started the motor. Is there something I am missing since I can’t pull my balance wheel out? Is there a switch or lever to go from spinning bobin to moving needle to nothing happening?
here’s a picture on my machine if that helps http://www.google.com/products/catalog?h…
Thanks!

If it’s humming, all you need to do is "help" the flywheel. Sometimes it just needs a little push.
If you can’t figure out from the instructions go to a fabric store or sears and they should be able to show you how it works. One tip you can try is to push the bobbin all the way. It may require a little pressure then thread it and and see if the bobbin spins. Some where there is a control that makes the bobbin spin or stops the bobbin and starts the sewing process. They cannot be used at the same time.
Look inside the hand wheel for a round wheel either painted or silver and assure that it is tight. This is the release mechanism for winding bobbins…it releases the hand wheel so it will turn without the machine sewing. Also, ensure that the bobbin winder is not partially engaged (move it to the side) as this will disengage the handwheel as well. If you cannot turn the handwheel (towards you, always towards you) If not, you may have jammed the hook mechanism. You can email me via Answers protocol for free help.
Good luck
