Men’s Empowerment: Martial Arts

It can be a healthy outlet for a young boy’s energy, a teenager’s angst, and a man’s stress. Young boys and teenagers learn important values like self-discipline and respect while most adult men have an opportunity to get in the best shape of their lives and lead by example. Martial arts is not what you think if your perception comes from Hollywood movies. They do not do the art justice. Martial Arts is to teach a person to be disciplined, mentally alert, self-controlled, able to protect and provide for himself and his family, and achieve and maintain good physical condition. Martial Arts is not fighting… martial arts is the use of the hands and feet as a path to the head and the heart. Most importantly, men will learn humility. This character quality is a necessity. I know many men who greatly lack this trait. This could mean they are overtly lacking humility or simply lacking the ability to be consistently kind or to simply apologize when they have made a mistake. It is important for men to remember that by maintaining humility, they can make the most of opportunities to improve by being a receptive and willing learner.
