I leather cover would protect it if you don’t mind a delay while you remove the cover to read the time? You could line the inside of the cover with something very soft.
Perhaps that scratch can be polished out too?.

A somewhat macho solution could be a leather bracer with the cover Velcro’d down? ehehe

PS – This kind of technology is the best. I refer to the distance gauging device in particular.
It’s a very pertinent survival tool and survival means being able to sustain yourself while digital technology makes us very dependent on the outside world.
If a satellite gets zapped by a waring country or spying dispute, virus, malfunction, whatever, then it’s back to a more tangible means of existence
